There are now 12 Archi-Minis to chose from!

Archi-Minis © Johannes BlonK 2018
And here they are as promised, the new Archi-Minis, placed on a beautiful support made of ash wood they look even more better.

While "upgrading" these small architectural art objects I created 5 new. In total the collection counts 12 differents models now. I would say choice enough, pick one out!

I created every Archi-Mini by hand which means that every Archi-Mini is practically unique although they are made in serie (limited edition). Each copy carries my signature and the branded BlonK-logo.

As the new Archi-Minis with the wooden support look quite different today, I had to take new pictures of the existing models which took me more than two days including the editing work. As from today you can find all the members of the Archi-Mini family on this web site by clicking on: Archi-Mini Collection.

You see and hear from me again shortly through a video presentation.

Keep coming back, buy art and thanks for your attention.

Ash wood

This is wood, real wood, ash wood! Don't go to a do-it-yourself supermarket, they won't sell it. Fortunately there are many forests here in the Alsace in France and I found a sawmill not far from my workshop able to supply this noble wood essence.

I don't know if you can see in in the picture (try to zoom in) but ash wood really has a beautiful wood grain texture. That's why I will transform these boards in supports for my future Archi-Minis (small architectural art objects).

Within a few weeks I should be able to show you the result.

P.S. If you don't find me photogenic, you are right, but there are worse things in life!

Cold Outside - Painting Inside

Johannes BlonK (02 2018) painting Archi-Minis

Here I am inside the house comfortably heated and with the radio on (I very offent listen to Radio Caroline, one of the old pirate radiostations from the sixties still broadcasting on the internet). In this room I usually paint all the small parts of my artworks. This time I'm working on 2 new artobjects called Archi-Minis.

Today it's blue, yellow and red day, primary colors day.

As I told you in the previous news item, I decided to improve the presentation of the Archi-Minis by placing them on a wooden support. Nowadays is it quite hard to get quality wood of different essences. In do-it-yourself shops you can forget it! Fortunately I live in a region (Alsace in France) where there are a lot of forests. About 10 km from home I found a sawmill where I ordered some beautiful boards of ash wood that I will use to make these supports.

I'm waiting for a call from the sawmill to pick them up and temperatures outside to go up so I can also work on these supports.

Nice from you to follow what I'm doing. See you next time my friend!

Archi-Minis. The family is getting bigger!

As there aren't many Archi-Minis in stock left and I have to restart production I decided to also create two new models each with 2 different color combinations.

Johannes BlonK creating Archi-Minis (2018)

At the moment that I write this article it is rather cold outside and my workshop doesn't have any heating. So if I have something to do that doesn't require special machinery like sanding small parts I rather do it inside the house as shown in the picture taken in the kitchen!

One of the new Archi-Minis, number 5 on the foreground, will have an arch and two towers. At the background on the right you can spot a glimp of the upcoming number 4. Both models will offer interesting perspectives from all sides.

In order to enhance its presentation future Archi-Minis will be placed on a thick wooden support. I will come back to you later with pictures.

Résultat 3

Welcome! Nice from you to come around again to visit my blog.
This time I would like to explain the realisation of one of my latest artworks "Résultat 3".

Etude pour

This "3D painting" or wall object is part of a series in the landscape format, a format I did not explore that much so far. Originally the background of the artwork was painted black (Mars black is the exact color) as the design picture shows. Once it was finished I found the artwork too dark, too sad and that nothing 'happened'.

So I decided to redo the background and paint it Titan white. I also find that it looks better in a vertical position. For those who do not agree with me or for those who like to change once in a while, I created 2 hanging systems at the back. Changing habits stimulate the brain they say.

In a horizontal position you can understand the title of the artwork, 3 divided by 1 makes 3. In french Résultat 3. Et voilà!
See you soon. A bientôt!

The Archi-Minis - Ultimate finish

I told you in the previous post that I started creating three series of small art objects of about 10 x 10 x 10 cm. My goal is to offer my numerous fans from around the world the possibility to buy an artwork handmade by the artist for a very friendly price (considering the many hours invested).

2017 09 Johannes BlonK varnishing the Archi-MInis

The picture shows me in my studio surrounded by dozens of small wooden parts (in total there are nearly 350 items!) that will compose these small archtitectural art objects, the Archi-Minis. For the moment I decided to go for three series of 15 objects each. In order to complicate things a little bit more there maybe, inside each serie, different color combinations.

Work is progressing well, I finished painting and I'm now applying two layers of varnish to protect the artworks. If everything goes as planned I should be able to present you the first Archi-Minis at the end of September (2017).

During the varnishing job I'm brainstorming about the sales price of the Archi-Minis, the distribution channels and I'm also wondering if wouldn't be a good idea to make a very special offer to those who have subscribed to my newsletter. In the meantime here is another simulated image of Archi-Mini 1.

Greetings from France and don't hesitate to leave some comments!
A bientôt!

Archi-Minis - A new project

Archi-Mini 3A (simulation) © J. BlonK

In order to make my art affordable for more people I decided to create series of small art objects (10 x 10 cm with a height of less than 10 cm - 10 cm equals almost 4 inches).

These art objects will be very architectural and some of them will be available in different color combinations.

I already found a name for these art objects: The Archi-Minis. I will create them myself from A to Z and they will carry my signature and the BlonK logo burned into the wood.

At the moment that I write this article I already finished creating three Archi-Minis in wood and I just started the painting process (by hand) of the first model. If everything goes as planned I should be able to present you the first Archi-Mini at the end of September (2017).

As you see I haven't run out of ideas yet, that would be a nightmare for any artist!

Purple Rectangles Approaching!

Johannes BlonK - Secrets of the Purple Rectangles - 2017

On the picture you can see me holding "Strange Violet" in my hand. It's a very pure artwork which I created in 2016.

I discovered that it possesses an important force of attraction. A lot of people cannot resist to close in to it and discover its secrets (see "Artworks > Strange" in the menu on top of this site).

For quite some I feel the need to go further into a certain subject before starting another new painting or art object. Now I feel it is time to go ahead, to do what I really like and I'm really excited about it.

On the palette on the ground lies a part of the material needed to create a series of 7 to 10 three dimensionnal paintings (or wall objects if you prefer). It will probably get the title "The Secrets of the Purple Rectangles". You may notice, on top of one of the stacks, one of the first artworks in a preliminary stage (unmounted).

And what about those art lovers who don't like purple? Don't worry there will be other new colourful artworks and perhaps even the first piece of design furniture with the BlonK logo on it.

Entering dutch gallery Bos Fine Art

I met a really nice couple of galleryholders in the Netherlands recently: Marianne Bos and Paul Essens from Bos Fine Art. They are specialized in promoting abstract geometric art and own galleries in Lelystad and Utrecht and they also have an internet site through which they sell art.

After this very pleasant and interesting rencontre we decided to work together in the future. This gallery also likes to function as a meeting point for artists in the same field and I think it could be a launching site towards other markets like Scandinavia and Germany.

A click on the image below will bring you to their internet site. You can find me under "Artists".
